In The Beginning...

vintage perfume classic beautiful white linen halston anais hot mom

When I was little, like many young girls, I would sneak spritzes of my mother’s perfumes and play in her make up. You see, my mom was, (and still is), a beautiful woman. Now I know we all think our mothers are beautiful, and they are! My mom was elegant, classy, stylish and drop dead gorgeous. She has always taken very good care of herself and her family. In middle school, my guy friends had a “Hot Mom list”, and my "hot mom" was always at the top. This often made me mad because, to me, she was, well...MY MAMA!

Mama had dark brown hair with blonde highlights. Back in the day, this was called “frosted” hair. It was beautiful on her with her brown eyes, long lashes, oval face, high cheek bones, darling little nose, and thousand-watt smile. She also had an amazing figure and could rock a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans better than any super model. She turned more heads than you can imagine.

Mama's dressing table had several decorative bottles and jars that I thought were her “beauty secrets”. I don’t remember her ever telling me not to touch them, but I knew they were special because they all smelled divine. They smelled like her. She had classic Halston, Cacharel’s Anais Anais and White Linen by Estee Lauder. She would later add Beautiful from Estee Lauder, and it inevitably took over as her favorite fragrance. It suited her. It still does.

Since then, Mama's fragrance palette has broadened. She enjoys Lancome's Tresor, Philosphy's Amazing Grace, and Mugler's Alien. The latter of which, I had given her a travel spray, and a month later had to refill for her! Don't worry...I plan to get her a 100 ml bottle of her own!

To this day, after 54 years of marriage, my Daddy still swoons when she walks into the room. He adores her and to him, she is the end all, be all of his world.  My Mama was my first impression of beauty, and I wanted to be just like her.
